About the Event

Guest speakers: Ralitsa Hiteva (Sussex), Iain Soutar (Exeter), Chris Foulds (Anglia Ruskin)

How do disciplinary boundaries shape how we apply for jobs and grants, and how we publish? What challenges and opportunities do we face when working through and between disciplines? We'll hear from three speakers before discussing the issues raised in breakout rooms. We'll share notes and reflections from the session more widely afterwards.

Topics that will be discussed:

1. How have you navigated disciplinary divisions when applying for jobs? At what career stages has this been important? What opportunities and challenges has it involved? And what advice can you give to others applying for jobs where disciplinary boundaries may be important?

2. How have you navigated disciplinary boundaries when applying for grants? What opportunities and challenges has this involved? What advice can you share?

3. How have you navigated disciplinary boundaries when publishing? When and why has this been important? What challenges has it involved? What advice can you give for others for publishing across disciplinary boundaries?
